Lost in Information

How do you decide what information to trust when you have questions about your health, mental health and well-being? Have you tried to find information via Twitter, Google or through Facebook groups?

Tonight Cochrane Common Mental Disorders will take part in its first ever York Festival of Ideas.

The Lost in Information immersive exhibit explores the explosion in information from multiple sources, via social and mainstream media, through a series of short films. Against this swirling backdrop of competing and opposing views, the need for accurate, evidence-based info has never been greater. Our exhibit questions how we can help make sure it is easier for the public to distinguish between facts, opinions and myths.

The exhibit takes the form of a presentation of short films in the University of York 3Sixty at the Ron Cooke Hub, Campus East. The editorial team will then be on hand for discussion over a cup of tea and a biscuit. We hope this is an opportunity for members of the wider York community to come and find out more about what Cochrane does.

‘A World of Wonder’

I have technology at my finger tips.
I search day and night.
I can find answers.

There are so many answers.
Not all of them match.
What filters?
I feel lost.
Lost in information.
Adrift.
